Transforming lives through sport

Our Impact

Over more than two decades we’ve worked on improving the lives of over 150,000 young people through our programmes.

Our work has resulted in improvements in mental health of 97% of participants, greater physical health in 87% of participants, average increases in knowledge and critical issues of 77% across the board, greater literacy rates in 96% of beneficiaries and employment placement rates of 89% of youth who have completed our programme.

What we do

United Through Sport is a charity working with participants from disadvantaged communities, aged 5 – 35.

We are focused on using the power of sport to help children and youth on their pathway to success. We are committed to the holistic development of each of our participants, focusing on their health, education and personal development.

Our programs improve education outcomes, raise critical issues awareness (such as sexual health, gender, alcohol and substance abuse), promote gender equality and build core life-skills, while improving participants’ mental and physical health. Ultimately we aim to support the development and opportunities for youth on their pathway to become positive, active participants in society.

Our flagship programme is in South Africa with satellite and partner programs in Argentina, Ghana, Mauritius and Saint Lucia.

We improve health

We combine life skills with sport and physical activity to help improve children’s mental and physical health in a fun and safe environment

We educate

We provide formal and informal education on critical issues to help children navigate the challenges of the harsh environment where they grow up and assist them to make healthy choices, while also providing literacy and academic support.

We create pathways to employment

We provide access to higher education, vocational training, practical job skills training and work experience to assist youth to strengthen their employability and promote clearer pathways into the workplace.

We transform lives through sport

By combining these various elements of development we provide a pathway of support for participants from early childhood all the way into young adulthood and their first job.
