United Through Sport (UTS) took a significant step in empowering youth development and opening doors for young football talent. 10 U15 boys were given the opportunity to trial for a place in the prestigious SAFA Transnet Football School of Excellence program, hosted by the South African Football Association.

The group consisted of five learners from the Northern Areas Hub and five from the Zwide Hub, each eager to showcase their skills and passion for the game.
To ensure a smooth and meaningful experience, United Through Sport provided transport to the University of Fort Hare’s campus field in Alice, along with refreshments and a well-deserved lunch after the trials before the team returned to Gqeberha.
Now, as we await the results from the SAFA selection team, our hearts are filled with pride and anticipation. Whether or not these young players secure a spot, the experience has already been invaluable, giving them exposure to high-level competition and reinforcing the belief that their dreams are within reach.
This initiative is a clear reflection of UTS’s commitment to empowering youth through sport, bridging the gap between raw talent and professional opportunity. By creating pathways for young athletes to access elite-level programs, United Through Sport continues to live out its mission of transforming lives through sport.
For these 10 young footballers, the experience was more than just a trial. It was a chance to dream bigger, push their limits, and take one step closer to perusing a career in football.
