Volunteer of the Year 2025

At our Annual Reunion in London, the prestigious Volunteer of the Year award was proudly presented to Resmi.
Having joined United Through Sport South Africa for a six-month placement, Resmi made a truly exceptional impact across our programmes. From the moment she arrived, she brought dedication, professionalism, and an infectious passion for sport and youth development that quickly set her apart.

Resmi was nominated for Volunteer of the Year in recognition of her outstanding commitment to our Learn to Swim programme. Going far beyond what was expected, she took our existing 12-week curriculum and expanded it into a longer-term development pathway, designed specifically to help swimmers reach their full potential. Through her careful planning, technical knowledge, and consistent delivery, Resmi helped create a programme that not only improved swimming ability and life saving skills, but built confidence, discipline, and ambition among our participants.

Alongside her work in swimming, Resmi was also a key contributor across our mass participation sports programmes. She delivered energetic, well-structured coaching sessions that brought enthusiasm and positivity into every school and community she worked with. Whether in the pool or on the field, Resmi raised standards and motivated young people to believe in their own potential.

Beyond her technical impact, Resmi was an integral part of the volunteer team. Throughout her long stay, she consistently uplifted those around her, offering support, encouragement, and leadership to fellow volunteers. Her reliability, kindness, and team-first mindset helped create a positive and united environment that strengthened the entire programme.

Resmi’s six months with United Through Sport left a lasting legacy. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to developing young people through sport embody everything our Volunteer of the Year award stands for.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Resmi as our Volunteer of the Year, and grateful for the powerful impact she has had on our participants, our programmes, and our community.
