Deeply committed to athlete development and well-being, United Through Sport (UTS) is actively tackling one of Saint Lucia’s most overlooked challenges in sport: limited access to physiotherapy support and crucial injury education. In Saint Lucia, sports physiotherapy is still a developing field, and access to qualified professionals remains limited. Through our Sports Physiotherapy Internship Programme, UTS is working to bridge this gap.
This vital initiative offers free physiotherapy support to athletes across the island and made a powerful return on June 15th, providing hands-on support at the Elite Invitational Athletics Meet held in Castries.

This weekend marked the return of the physiotherapy programme with On-Field Support at a National Athletics Meet
At the Elite Invitational Athletics Meet, our dedicated physio team assisted over 20 athletes, ranging from Under-9s to open-age group competitors. They covered a wide variety of track and field disciplines, including sprints (100m–300m), mid-distance (1000m, 1200m), high jump, long jump, shot put, and javelin.
Our committed interns provided a range of crucial services, including:
- Pre-race massages to prepare muscles
- Post-race recovery support to aid in healing
- Ice therapy for effective injury management
- Real-time advice on injury prevention and performance care
This event marks an exciting new chapter in UTS’s commitment to holistic athlete development in Saint Lucia, focusing not only on performance on the field but also on comprehensive well-being off it.
In Their Words: Reflections from Our Physio Interns
Keira: “It was a great experience and an exciting day! We really got a feel for what sports events are like here. We were able to offer advice on injury prevention and management — and also promote our clinic to athletes who truly need our services.”
Kathryn: “This was a really eye-opening day. It put into perspective just how much these athletes endure — often without access to basic physiotherapy or proper guidance. Being able to support them was incredibly rewarding.”
From hands-on recovery at competitions to structured rehabilitation in clinic settings, our programme is a vital part of keeping Saint Lucian athletes safe, supported, and ready to perform at their best.
