Our Work in Argentina

United Through Sport has supported our satellite partner programme in Buenos Aires since 2010 seeking to have a positive impact on the disadvantaged young people living there.

Our volunteers work closely with NGO’s and local clubs to deliver structured sports sessions, which have already reached over 5000 children. Through football, rugby, tennis, baseball, netball and basketball, United Through Sport is addressing serious issues facing the at-risk children of Buenos Aires every day.

Our Sports Education Programme harnesses the power of sport as a tool for holistic development. We engage at-risk and vulnerable children through football, rugby, netball, baseball, tennis, and basketball reating meaningful connections that promote personal growth and social inclusion. In collaboration with numerous NGOs and local sports clubs, we strive to make a lasting, positive impact in the communities we serve.

Sport offers a unique platform to teach essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication, while also fostering self-confidence and self-esteem. Our sessions go beyond physical activity—we also address important social and health-related topics, equipping young people with the tools to make informed choices in life.

This football-based initiative uses sport as a foundation to instill key values like teamwork, self-respect, discipline, and fair play. Open to both boys and girls from age 6 to young adulthood, the programme combines structured training with life-skills education. Participants apply their learning by competing in a city-wide weekend league, turning theory into practice in a supportive, dynamic environment.

In schools, our volunteers work alongside local physical education teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons. These lessons not only encourage physical fitness, but also reinforce values such as cooperation, respect, and social inclusion—complementing the schools’ broader curriculum goals.

We also support after-school sports initiatives—primarily focusing on football, hockey, handball, and rugby—in partnership with like-minded local NGOs. These programmes offer a safe, structured space for children to grow, learn, and play while gaining exposure to teamwork and leadership in action.

Our Childcare Programme is grounded in the belief that every child deserves a safe, nurturing space to explore and develop. Operating within underserved communities, we serve children aged 5 to 12, offering them a space where creativity and imagination are nurtured through art and sport.

Foreign volunteers bring diverse cultural perspectives and unique talents to the playground, enriching each child’s experience. Through structured play and creative activities, children not only develop their cognitive and motor skills but also learn values such as cooperation, fairness, and self-respect.

Our Teaching and Education Programme directly supports public schools by providing volunteer-led assistance in teaching English as a second language. Volunteers work side-by-side with local teachers, offering students the chance to hear native English pronunciation and engage in immersive learning experiences.

A key part of this initiative is the School of English, which offers quality English education to individuals aged 14 and older. With schools now established in two locations within the slums and plans to expand, this programme is increasing access to vital educational resources. Volunteers and qualified instructors provide students with the opportunity to build language skills that open doors to future academic and professional opportunities.

“When we harness the power of sport to engage young people, it becomes far more than just a game. It becomes a gateway—to inspire, to guide, to educate, and to shape lives in truly transformative ways.”
