A Bright Future for UTS South Africa’s Graduates:

In January 2025, we proudly celebrated the achievements of our 18 matriculants as they received their final results, marking an incredible 100% pass rate for our School of Excellence programme. Among them was Caitlyn (pictured), who achieved an outstanding seven distinctions, exemplifying the dedication, resilience, and potential of our students.

The School of Excellence is the heart of our long term commitment to empowering young people. It supports talented youth identified through our earlier programmes, providing scholarships, academic support, and mentorship throughout high school. By combining education with sport, we help unlock doors to opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach, ensuring that talent and ambition are not limited by circumstance.

We are immensely proud of this year’s matriculants and look forward to supporting them on their next journey, whether pursuing higher education, professional careers, or starting their own businesses. Their achievements stand as a testament to the power of opportunity, hard work, and the unwavering support of our volunteers, staff, and friends.

United Through Sport did a program at my school. It was initially just for sports. I think I was in grade five when it first happened, and it just felt like a special kind of outreach where people of different cultures actually, they put in the effort to see our potential as, I want to say, the underdogs. And I just feel that all of the effort put in by UTS, it was from the get go. It was always very sincere, and it was always full force. United Through Sport has funded my entire high school career, Pearson High School.

They also offered sport in terms of our transport and things like that that kind of became challenging. And then also just in my opinion, like, emotional, kind of being that supporting structure for me. When I was going through things and I felt like maybe I could confide in the people at UTS to help me and overcome the challenges that I faced. If I had a message for anyone who was considering supporting UTS, I would say that no little bit of support for contribution goes unnoticed. I think that a lot of people overlook it, but the children within the system, it does make a difference.

We all appreciate every little bit that people give towards us because it’s not just a little bit of money to us, it’s our futures. And I do think that it’s what allows us to become the people that we want to be, irrespective of our environments that we grow up in.
